Derek & Kathryn’s Story
Hello! We are Kathryn and Derek. We were married in 2018 in Canmore where we met ten years ago. Our family consists of the two of us as well as our two furry friends; Drake and Bailey who we love to spend time adventuring with around Fish Creek. We enjoy trying new activities together, checking out new restaurants and exploring all that Calgary has to offer. We are auntie and uncle to our two nieces as well we are involved in many of our friends children’s lives, supporting them in the best way possible.
Since we met, we have always known that we wanted to become parents one day. However, through many appointments at the fertility clinic and deciding that IVF was not the path for us, we are now looking forward to open adoption and beginning a new journey.
Kathryn is a elementary school teacher who loves being able to teach and watch children grow underneath her guidance, patience and creative instruction. In her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing and learning new recipes. She is learning how to golf so that her and Derek can enjoy travelling to areas where they can golf beautiful courses together.
Derek is a welder and has worked very hard to get to where he is. He is a loyal, hardworking and loving husband that supports his family unconditionally. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, hunting and hiking.
Our home is filled with so much joy, love and laughter and we cannot wait for the day when we get to share our beliefs and experiences with not only our child but the birth family as well.
